The Boston Reunion hosted by Bob Muse and his Family without doubt was the most interesting and well planned reunion I had ever attended. From the start to the finish it was well organized and I am sure that all those who attended will agree.  The first evening we were invited to the home of Bob and Mary Muse for cocktails and supper.  Transportation to the reception was a surprise for us as there were two buses and a police escort that zipped us through the rush hour traffic.  You could see bystanders just looking and wondering what was happening.   The following morning once again we were transported by buses for a memorial at Emmanuel College Chapel where a stained glass window which had been restored of St. Michael and a plaque was dedicated.  This window is for the past present and future members of VMF-323 and VMFA-323 The restoration of the window and plaque was sponsored by Bob Muse and Jerry O'Keefe.  The ceremony left not a dry eye among those who attended.

General Axtell read the names of those who were killed during W.W.II with a bell being struck as each name was called.  The names of those who from the original squadron who passed away in subsequent were read by members of the squadron.  Prayers were offered for the different denominations.   The was a Marine Corps Honor Guard and a Sheriff's Honor Guard present in the Chapel and the Bagpipes were outside to meet us when we arrived.  The ride to the Chapel was once again a thrill speeding through Boston with our escort stopping traffic.   The bus in which I rode had a bus driver who was up in his years and he said that this was the thrill of his life to do this disregarding all traffic signals.

Later on in the afternoon we once again had the Police, State Police and Sheriff escort This was to the Massachusetts State House where this time we went through the Friday Afternoon rush hour. It is rather hard to describe what facial expressions where upon some of the bystanders as we drove by.   The Speaker of the House Thomas M. Finneran, read a House resolution which is shown below.

On Saturday we were once again bused to Charleston Navy Yard where at the Hull Room which is adjacent to the U.S.S. known as "Old Ironsides" the oldest ship in the U.S. Navy, a Squadron dinner was held.   The food was divine, but the camaraderie was at its peak since the following morning we would be departing for our homes which are spread across this great nation of our.  We now will wait once more for the next reunion which will be held in Las Vegas.

Sheriff Jim DiPaola, son of Arthur DiPaola one of our surviving members was responsible for all of the outstanding traffic control with the State Police, Sheriffs' Department and Boston Police Department.  All of the Law Enforcement Personnel were volunteers for this event.
